This year has been a turbulent one. Stock market loosing ~20% in value, ChatGPT redefining our understanding of NN, Stable diffusion ai creating art, Fusion being realized, Gas above $3.50, War in Ukraine, Coupe attempt in Germany, January 6th charges, and power ball winnings over $700 million cash! So many things to either worry over or count your blessing.
Our major take this week concerns the War in Ukraine from a fiscal standpoint and loss of life. To date there has been ~$38 billion of aid given in the form of either funds, logistics, or weapons.
Our major take this week concerns the War in Ukraine from a fiscal standpoint and loss of life. To date there has been ~$38 billion of aid given in the form of either funds, logistics, or weapons.
On November 15, the administration submitted a new aid request of $37.7 billion which, if passed, would bring the total to $105.5 billion. This new aid package is designed to last through the end of the fiscal year (September 30, 2023). However, at the current rate of spending ($6.8 billion per month), this would last until about May. At that point, unless the war has ended or settled into a stalemate, the administration would need to ask for additional money. (Center For Strategic & International Studies, 11/18/2022)
War also brings death, and so far the total stands at ~99,000 for Russian forces while Ukraine stands at ~ 13,000. Then once you include the number of civilian deaths which is estimated to be around 40,000, there could be 150,000 estimated deaths produced by this conflict. However, the true figure won't be know for awhile because of inabilities to track all deaths.
The UN has said it does not consider figures released by those involved in the conflict to be reliable.
But speaking in New York, Gen Milley added that for any talks to be successful, both Russia and Ukraine would have to reach a "mutual recognition" that a wartime victory "is maybe not achievable through military means, and therefore you need to turn to other means".(BBC, 11/10/2022)
No matter if you stand against or for Ukraine, one thing is sure families on both sides loose people that they care about. The spark of life fades from this world and on to the next, and all that is left is pain, vengeance, and dispare. So for the best of both parties it is necessary to end this war. Further more, all the wars/conflicts that plague this world should come to some agreement, looking at you Myanmar, China, Venezuela, Syria, Mexico, CAR, South Sudan, and many more.
I believe a quote from the character pain said it best:
You strive for your justice and I strive for mine we’re both just ordinary men who have been driven to seek vengeance in the name of justice and if comes call vengeance justice such justice will only breed further vengeance and trigger a vicious cycle of hatred, right now we live in such a cycle.
